Chartered Institute of Fundraising

The Chartered Institute of Fundraising is the professional membership body for UK fundraising. Its mission is to support fundraisers, through leadership, representation, standards-setting and education, and it champions and promotes fundraising as a career choice.

The Institute was formed in 1983 by a committed group of fundraisers getting together to share and tackle fundraising issues. A lot has changed since then but this ethos remains at the heart of what we do – coming together to face the challenges we meet as individuals and as a professional sector.

We understand that fundraisers have a tough job – a rewarding one, but a tough one all the same. We can make that job a little easier, whether it be through direct training or advice, or by helping you to become part of a large and supportive network, with the welcome sense of security that this brings.

Remember A Charity, itself a registered charity, is part of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising, and our organisations have been working together for ten years to promote legacy fundraising. This includes creating the Legacy Fundraising Code, the Legacy Fundraising conference and we are currently working together to influence the government on their new initiative to reduce inheritance tax for anyone who donates at least 10% of their estate to charity in their Will.
