The Institute of Professional Willwriters
The Institute of Professional Willwriters (IPW) is a self-regulatory body for professional willwriters which was founded to safeguard the public from unqualified practitioners and unethical business practices. All IPW members must pass the IPW entrance examination or possess an equivalent qualification in Wills and estates such as that from the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners or the Institute of Legal Executives.
Members are required to update their knowledge and skills annually through a programme of Continuing Professional Development in order to retain their practising certificate as well as having Professional Indemnity Insurance cover of a minimum of £2 million for each Will written. It is also mandatory for them to comply with the IPW Code of Practice which is approved by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute.
The IPW are committed supporters of Remember A Charity, working together on a number of initiatives to increase awareness of charitable legacies among their members.
