Meet the Committee

This committee was established to help build expertise and develop best practice within the advisory profession - and to champion and promote legacy giving amongst high net worth clients, supporting them in achieving their philanthropic goals. Clare Stirzaker – Partner, Private Client & Tax, Boodle Hatfield
Committee Chair

Clare specialises in succession planning and related legal and tax matters for multi-generational families and their family offices.

She works alongside some of the world’s leading private businesses and her practice focuses on how to help individuals developing their succession planning strategy and designing bespoke asset holding and wealth management structures including PTCs, limited partnership structures and foundations. Clare has specialist experience of advising and supporting families on implementing 

family and corporate governance frameworks to support successful wealth transition. She also supports clients in developing their philanthropic strategy to enable greater and more effective wealth distribution.

Clare is recognised for her work having won multiple awards from the leading private wealth award bodies. Prior to joining the firm, Clare was a Partner at PwC and also worked at Barclays Wealth, providing her with a real breadth of experience and commercial insight across the private client sector.

Sianne Haldane - Founder of Boon Philanthropy Consulting
Project Lead

Sianne Haldane is a philanthropy and impact consultant working with companies and high net worth individuals and families supporting them with philanthropic and CSR goals, strategies and implementation. She also works with not for profits, helping them to develop and implement high value fundraising strategies.

Sianne is a STEP qualified lawyer with over twenty years experience working and consulting in the third sector as well as advising private clients. Sianne was formerly Chief Impact Officer at Maanch, an ESG tech consulting firm where she worked with large  and small corporates to embed sustainability programmes.

Before then, Sianne was Head of Planned Giving Philanthropy at Cancer Research UK, the UK's largest charity, where she brought in their three largest ever individual gifts, totalling over $100M.   

Sianne is Chair of the STEP Global Philanthropy Advisors Special Interest Group. She sits on the Advisory Committee of the UN Global Compact UK and acts as an advisor on UBP's Biodiversity Restoration Impact Fund. She regularly gives keynote talks at philanthropy and private client conferences and events. She is also a Trustee of Save the Rhino and Mosaik Education, a charity helping refugees access tertiary education.

Glenn Baker - Director, Charles Stanley 

Glenn joined Charles Stanley in 2018 and is responsible for its relationships with professional advisers, trustees, charities, business owners and philanthropists. He sits on Charles Stanley’s Responsible Investment Committee, and is the Branch Administrator of the City of London cohort of STEP.  Previously, he was a Director at Kleinwort Benson (2012-2017) and at Schroders Cazenove (2008-2012). 

Glenn is a Board Member on the Action for Animal Health Development Board for the international charity The Brooke, looking at the development of One Health - human, animal and environmental.

With a PhD in English Literature from the University of Leicester, Glenn is part of an international cohort inputting into The World Economic Forum, currently working on how cultural narratives are developing post-Covid-19, particularly through the prism of the ‘war’ on truth and current political and national instabilities, topics on which he regularly contributes to media debates (such as on The Today Programme, Talk Radio, ABC, Al Jazeera, et. al.). 

James Cook - Partner, Russell-Cooke LLP

James is a Partner in the Private Client team at Russell Cooke LLP and a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, specialising in trust, tax and succession planning for entrepreneurs and high net worth individuals.

His work often includes international elements, advising both UK and non-UK clients and a particular passion of his is philanthropy; assisting clients and their families to meet their philanthropic objectives.

James has been a trustee of a free legal advice charity for nearly 15 years.

Chris Harden - Head of Hoares Trustees, C. Hoare & Co

Chris Harden is the Head of Hoares Trustees at C. Hoare & Co having joined the bank in 2019. He leads the team responsible for administering the Master Charitable Trust, a donor advised funds which supports philanthropists with impactful giving and investments.

Chris has a decade of experience working with high-net-worth individuals and their families to support them across a range of important matters including their philanthropy, succession planning, tax planning and the governance of their businesses. 

Chris is a qualified accountant (ACA) and a Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) working at PWC and Grant Thornton before joining C. Hoare & Co. 

Chris enjoys spending time with his a family and being involved with any sports, particularly hockey and long distance running.

Tanya Watson - Senior Director, Alvarez & Marsal

Tanya Watson is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Tax in London. Prior to joining A&M, she spent 14 years with two Big 4 firms.

Looking after wealthy individuals and their families (often with international connections and assets in multiple jurisdictions), Tanya works closely with family offices, trustees and charitable foundations. She supports clients at all stages of their life, providing tax advice on wealth accumulation, wealth structuring, acquisitions/disposals of assets and succession planning.

Some of Tanya's recent projects include the review of a complex trust structure set up

many decades ago to ensure it was compliant with the current legislation, advice on succession planning to accommodate the family’s objectives, and review of client’s worldwide assets in order to ascertain the impact of the upcoming changes to the taxation of non-UK domiciliaries.

Tanya is passionate about charitable giving and helps clients understand how this can be achieved from a tax perspective.

With a Master's Degree in Accounting and Financial Economics, she is a Chartered Tax Adviser. Tanya was featured in eprivateclient’s Top 35 under 35 for two years in a row.

George King - Senior Wealth Manager, Maseco

A senior wealth manager at MASECO with more than 30 years of experience in financial markets, George King advises HNW families on their cross-border financial needs. Most of his cases deal with investing, tax and financial issues involving the complexity of cross-border US/UK tax and currency matters. 

George supports his clients finding solutions for everything from renegotiating employment contracts, to finding good immigration, divorce or employment attorneys, to helping them teach their kids about financial matters.

A US-based investment analyst and portfolio manager for the first decade of his career, he has worked in London ever since, including at Barclays and RBC.

Laura Nevitt - Head of Family Office, Hawksford

Laura is highly experienced as a director and trustee for complex asset protection, succession planning and outsourced administration services. Her directorships and trusteeships have included structures for family business’, philanthropy, investment portfolios including commercial property, hotels, private equity, venture capital and digital assets as well as luxury and lifestyle assets such as yachts and residential property. 

Laura is experienced in the provision of bespoke company secretarial and administration services to UHNW families whose main investments are usually split into capital preservation/growth for younger generations and lifestyle assets for their personal use and enjoyment. She places robust corporate governance and her clients’ wealth preservation and succession goals at the very heart of her decision making and service to clients.

Marina Nikoloska - Relationship manager - Executive Director, Julius Baer (London)

Marina started her career at Coutts and Co in 2007, later moving to UBS where she spent 12 years looking after resident non domiciled clients as well as UK resident and domiciled clients. 

Marina has a strong focus on female clients and in particular female entrepreneurs.

Marina has worked very closely with One to One Childrens fund, having lead their development board.

Eleanor Sepanski - Partner, Private Client & Tax, Boodle Hatfield

Eleanor deals with all aspects of onshore UK tax, private client and trust work and her clients include some large family businesses. She also advises on offshore structures and international tax and estate planning, with a particular interest in the USA. Eleanor further specialises in charity law, dealing in particular with governance issues, philanthropy and CSR planning for companies.

Eleanor is a member of the firm’s Art Law & More team and advises on the full spectrum of art matters for private clients. Her clients include wealthy families and individuals with large art collections as well as high profile artists and not-for-profit art foundations. Eleanor also has experience in advising artists on their estate planning and philanthropy.

Isabelle Smith - Manager – Tax, Alvarez & Marsal

Isabelle Smith is a Manager with Alvarez & Marsal in London. She brings seven years of experience in private client services. Her primary areas of concentration are high and ultra high net worth individuals with complex tax affairs.

Prior to joining A&M, Isabelle worked with the private wealth team at BDO LLP in London, where she most 

recently served as assistant manager on a mix of tax compliance and advisory work. The most notable projects included non-UK domicile individuals.

Isabelle earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Swansea University and is a qualified member of the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) and is a Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA).

Rachel Steeden - Head of Legal, Philanthropy Services, Stewardship

Rachel Steeden is an experienced private client lawyer working in-house at Stewardship, a donor advised fund charity, to help high and ultra high net worth individuals with their philanthropy. 

Rachel works alongside donors’ professional advisers to facilitate complex lifetime and legacy gifts, grants and social investments.

Lizzy Steinhart - Philanthropy Advisor, LCM Family Ltd 

Lizzy works in a multi-family office offering strategic advice on how best to maximise the value and outputs of charitable giving and social investments for her high net worth clients and charities that they wish to engage with.  She brokers different individual interests and skills, engagement and legacy creation.  

Lizzy’s career spans the breadth of the grant giving sector, having worked in private family offices, charitable foundations, a lottery distributor and government.  She is a sought after speaker and commentator and lectures in all things philanthropy across the UK.  

During COVID she played an integral part in a new independent Advisory Panel to support NHS Charities Together pivot into to a grant making organisation to enable the onward distribution of £150m+ of public funding and also in advising Government on its match funding initiative to maximise private foundations’ response to COVID.

She is an alumni of the Windsor Leadership Trust and currently serves as a Trustee for two Cumbria based family foundations – the Francis Scott Trust and the Sir John Fisher Foundation.

James von Simson - Partner, Evelyn Partner’s Private Office

James is a Partner in Evelyn Partner’s Private office, where he specialises in advising multi-generational and multi-jurisdictional families on their investments, family governance, wealth preservation, and philanthropic strategies.

Having begun his career at Citigroup in 2005 as part of the Mergers & Acquisitions team in Frankfurt,

he joined Evelyn Partners in 2016 following the acquisition of Thurleigh Investment Managers where he was a Senior Portfolio Manager.

James sits on both the STEP Worldwide Council and the CISI International Committee. He is also an Ambassador for the Diversity Project.

Lucinda Frostick - Director of Remember A Charity

With a passion for collaboration and helping charities secure long-term income through legacy giving, Lucinda has more than 20 years’ experience working for collaborative campaigns and in charity communications.

As Director of Remember A Charity, Lucinda leads a talented and committed team, who all work towards the consortium’s core mission of growing and normalising charitable legacy giving across the UK.

Her role is to guide the team in delivering an integrated communications, advocacy and partnership strategy to grow this area of philanthropy and to support Remember A Charity’s membership community.
