Global charity alliance calls on public to leave lasting legacy

A global alliance of charities will today (Tuesday 13 September) come together for the first time to raise awareness of the importance of charitable legacies. Remember A Charity will be joined by legacy consortiums in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Spain, Ireland and Switzerland to launch the campaign, encouraging supporters to take a moment to think about their favourite charity and what a legacy could do for them. Charitable donations in wills are the foundation of many of charities, and without this income most charities’ services would suffer; others would simply not exist. Legendary Hollywood movie stuntman Rocky Taylor (64) will mark the day by attempting to break a world record, first set in the James Bond film Die Another Day. Rocky will jump a spinning car at speed through a huge sheet of glass. It is hoped that people from around the world will watch Rocky’s stunt live on Facebook, broadcast at 1pm BST. Australia’s leading legacy consortium, Include a Charity, Belgium’s Testament, Spain’s Legado Solidario, Ireland’s Legacy Promotion Ireland, Switzerland’s MyHappyEnd, two Canadian campaigns: Leave-a-Legacy™ and Give Green Canada (Patrimoine vert) will join the UK’s Remember A Charity to mark the day. This is the first time that hundreds of charities from across the world are coming together to raise awareness of this vital form of giving.”
