Northern Ireland charity benefits from gifts in Wills

One of Northern Ireland's leading cancer charities saw its income increase last year thanks to income from gifts in Wills.
Action Cancer saw income in the 2016/17 financial year of £4.3 million, up from £3.8 million the year before.
This growth was thanks to a significant increase in legacy income of £510,000, from £193,000, with more of the public remembering the charity in their Will.
Donations in the same year also increased from £1.9 million to £2.2 million.
Action Cancer is one of Northern Ireland’s largest cancer charities. Their work supports local people through cancer awareness, prevention, detection and support.
The charity states that gifts in Wills enable them to continue to deliver services including research into genetic related cancers, counselling and support groups and education and prevention programmes.
