Over 140 charities to take part in this year's Remember A Charity Week

A total of 140 charities have now signed up to take part in Remember A Charity Week from 13-19 September, billed by organisers as potentially one of the biggest UK cross-charity campaigns. Remember A Charity was set up in 2000 to encourage more people to consider leaving a gift to charities when writing a will once they've looked after family and friends. The UK legacy market is currently worth more than 25 times the annual amount raised by Comic Relief, and just a 4% change in behaviour would raise a further £1 billion for good causes every year. This year's Remember A Charity Week will see member charities running their own PR activities, using branded materials including teabags and ribbon to help promote the campaign. During the week The Diocese of Chichester will be holding tea mornings in their 500 churches nationwide, whilst The Children's Society will be giving away free teabags with purchases in their charity shops. The campaign will also feature a "Legacies through a Lens" photography exhibition to be held at the Oxo Tower in London. The exhibition will showcase photographs taken by various celebrities, capturing the work of legacies and the difference that they can make to a charity.
