Over 140 charities to take part in UK's biggest cross-charity campaign

This week over 140 member charities are taking part in Remember A Charity Week. The week, organised by charity consortium Remember A Charity, has been billed as one of the biggest UK cross-charity campaigns. Remember A Charity was set up in 2000 to encourage more people to consider leaving a gift to their favourite charity when writing a will, after they've looked after family and friends. The UK legacy market is currently worth more than 25 times the annual amount raised by Comic Relief, and just a 4% change in behaviour would raise a further £1 billion for good causes every year. All week member charities nationwide will be running their own PR activities using branded materials including teabags and ribbon to host photo calls and promote the campaign. The Diocese of Chichester will be holding tea mornings in their 500 churches nationwide, whilst The Children's Society will be giving away free teabags with purchases in their charity shops. Tomorrow (Wednesday) marks the public opening of the cornerstone of the week, the 'Legacies Through a Lens' photographic exhibition, held at the OXO Gallery in London. The exhibition will showcase photographs taken by various celebrities to capture the work of legacies and the difference that they can make to a charity. Celebrities including Gordon Ramsay, Alexandra Burke, Dame Judi Dench and Timothy Spall have shown their support for the campaign by submitting photographs for the exhibition. The exhibition will be open to the public from 11am-6pm daily until Sunday 19th September. The campaign will also feature a digital version of the 'Legacies Through a Lens' exhibition available online, including photographs from member charities not featured in the exhibition.
