Our charity, Canine Concern, was established in 1988 by Eve Waring, who had seen how important dog visits were to the elderly and lonely.

Canine Concern continues to provide care dog visits to those who may benefit from our service, such as care homes, hospitals, hospices, workplaces, Universities and schools, basically anywhere people need our support.

It has been shown that having a calm friendly dog around eases stress and tension. Children gain the confidence to talk or read a book to a non-judgemental dog thus giving them a better start in life as communicating and reading are helpful tools for education and life in general. For the elderly and sick it can help with loneliness and anxiety making their lives easier and happier.

For staff of these and many other places whose work stress is high, a visit from a care dog helps mental and physical health reducing time off sick through stress.

As a charity, we rely on a team of trusted volunteers, who visit with their assessed and insured dogs, as well as support and donations from members of the public and corporations, so that we can continue our work for many years to come.

Our joining fees for our volunteers are kept low, in order that anyone on any income can join us to offer visits. However, to run the charity and offer support and insurance to our volunteer members costs. In order to continue helping the community with our volunteers and dogs, we need your help with a legacy or donation.
