The Gatehouse (which is an abbreviation of our full charity name that we operate under) is a local homeless charity based in central Oxford.
We offer a wide range of free services to our guests including a daily drop-in community centre / café, provision of other basic practical items (e.g. clothes, sleeping bags), shower services, therapeutic and practical workshops, bespoke one-to-one support from our Casework Team and Counsellor, and a Lived Experience Advisory Forum.
Although we primarily support rough sleepers and vulnerably housed individuals we also welcome others on low or no income or suffering from food or fuel poverty. Because we operate an open door policy without any requirement to be registered as homeless or prove a local connection we provide easy access and a safety net for all adults in need.
Our mission is to reduce and overcome barriers and inequalities in food, finance, social isolation, housing, health, education, employment and well-being. Put more simply we help to keep people alive, we support their physical and mental wellbeing and encourage their personal development to help them reintegrate with society, with an overall long-term aim of helping them to gain employment and find a permanent home.
Please help us to continue providing essential services and making a positive impact on people’s lives.
The Gatehouse relies on donations from individuals and organisations in the local community for a significant proportion of its income, and Gifts in Wills are making up an ever growing proportion of those funds.
Without them we wouldn’t be able to continue providing free essential services to over 800 guests each year.
