We believe everyone should be able to take part in life, no matter their disability.

Our work helps thousands of people who are deafblind or who have complex disabilities to communicate, experience the world and fulfil their potential.

Set up by two mums, Peggy and Margaret, Sense was established after they both contracted Rubella during pregnancy and their children were born deafblind. The two families soon began to reach out to others in similar situations and over time, a wonderful community of support grew.

Today, almost 70 years later, Sense is a leading national charity for people who are deafblind or have complex disabilities.

What makes Sense different

We put disabled people and their loved ones at the heart of everything we do. We have almost seventy years of expertise in providing personalised support for people of all ages — from early life to adulthood. With a third of our annual income gifted to us in Wills.

We offer residential care, virtual support, and we have a network of centres in communities across the country. We also provide lifelong opportunities for disabled people to be creative and active through holidays, arts, sports, and wellbeing programmes.
