The Royal National College for the Blind (RNC) has been leading the way in specialist education since 1872 and celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2022.

We are a residential College of further education, supporting young people aged 16 -25 years with sight loss. The College underpins academic and vocational subjects with training in mobility, assistive technology, Braille and specialist skills for life such as money management, cookery skills, laundry and shopping.

More than this, we encourage achievement beyond the classroom – developing self-confidence, personal independence and communication skills, vital for every student’s future.

Our young people enjoy a wide range of extra-curricular activities including The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, participating in sport, cultural visits, overseas trips and recreational hobbies.

Students progress to university, into employment and volunteering. Most importantly, they become independent and confident adults who achieve extraordinary things.

RNC is unique, but we need ongoing support to maintain and improve campus facilities and equipment, and to offer new and fulfilling enrichment opportunities.

The charity raises additional funds every year to support its work and gifts in Wills are a very important part of our unrestricted income, allowing us to direct funds where they are most needed to support our students.

We have been supporting students with sight loss for over 150 years.

Leaving a gift in your Will to RNC enables us to continue providing the education, training and life experiences which our young people need to become confident and independent members of the community.
