The power of collaboration

Charities working together is a great thing. Pooled resources and effort towards a common goal. I was lucky enough to be invited to the launch of an innovative new campaign - Legacy Liverpool - at Liverpool Town Hall on 11 March. This was made possible by the effort of 14 charities who are working together to encourage local people from all walks of life, to leave a gift in their Will to local charities they care about. One of the main reasons for the relatively low number of people leaving a charitable gift in their Will is that they just don’t consider it at the right time. It was therefore very encouraging to hear both The Lord Major of Liverpool, Cllr Erica Kemp and Mark Feeny, Head of Private Client Services at Brabners LLP, speak about the important role that Will-writing solicitors have. All it takes is a mention by the solicitor to make their clients aware that leaving a charitable gift in a Will is an option, after having made provision for family and friends. At Remember A Charity we know that this works, so it was great to see so many probate solicitors at the event and have an opportunity to discuss their work.

This is just the start for Legacy Liverpool. They have local celebrities involved, as well as advertising planned and a new website. I am sure that their campaign will be a success, helping drive awareness of this vital form of income.
